Challenge 2025
Fire, Energy and Fuels in Mars Exploration
The challenge is to design innovative energy or fuel solutions for a six-person crew to survive and operate on Mars for two years. Participants can focus their proposals on interplanetary travel or Mars operations, addressing energy generation, storage, and efficient use, as well as sustainable fuel management. These solutions should also have applications to Earth’s energy challenges.
In 2025, participants have one main challenge:
Create solutions that target energy sustainability on Mars, with application on Earth. This challenge directly targets Sustainable Development Goal 7 dedicated to Affordable and Clean Energy.
